Hi, everyone! I’m back today with some fun news and a card to share with you! I’m so excited to announce that I’m joining the Create A Smile Challenge Design Team!! I’m looking forward to bringing you cards each month that I’ve created using their adorable stamps and other products. Today we are kicking off the first January challenge and the theme for this challenge is: kraft. I love using kraft card stock, so this was such an easy one to start with 🙂
I love this freebie with the bird and the coffee cup from Create A Smile, so I decided to use it to make a background to color. I was going to print it on some Copic friendly cardstock, and then I realized-the challenge is kraft! I should use some colored pencils and go full out. It was super easy to resize the image and repeat it in a photo editor and then I printed it straight onto the card stock. I trimmed it down to fit my card base, and went to town with my color pencils.
I kept the coloring really simple. I’m not the best with colored pencils, but I love using them. This image was so easy and simple to work with. Once I had all the images colored, I added back some of the black lines that I had colored over with a fine tip Copic Multi Liner. The spots I need to do this this most was the details in the birds. I also added some white gel pen dots. just to fill in the open space and add some detail.
I took another freebie from the blog and also printed it on some kraft card stock. For the word ‘year’ I used some brown Copics and made an ombre effect so that they faded towards the top. I trimmed that down and matted it onto some black paper. This was adhered to the card with foam tape for a little dimension. I also had printed some of the bird images in different sizes onto some Copic friendly paper for later. I colored one of the birds and fussy cut him out, adhering him atop the sentiment. And that’s my card for today! I hope you liked this take on the kraft challenge! Be sure to head over to the CAS post for this challenge and learn about how you can play along with us 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by, and I’ll see you with another card soon!
