MFT – A Friend Like You

Hi everyone! It’s been a while, hasn’t it?! I’m excited to be back sharing cards with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink for the next few months 🙂 Vanessa asked me if I could fill in, and of course I was thrilled to do so and dip my toes back in the card making universe after being absent for so long. Today I have a card to share with you using some of the awesome products found in her shop. Let’s take a look at the card.

I love the animal stamps that MFT has, and I couldn’t resist using these cats from the Cat-astrophe stamp set. I stamped out four of the cat images from the set using one of my fave brown inks from Catherine Pooler: Icing on the Cake. Then I used my copic markers to color them all in. Every now and then I love the softer lines of the brown ink instead of going with my standard black ink. Once they were colored I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Next I used some colored cardstock and kraft cardstock from Lawn Fawn to create the background and other stamped and die cut pieces. For the background I stamped the paw prints with the same Icing on the Cake ink onto an A2 sized piece of kraft cardstock. I also added some white dots with paint and a dotting tool. I die cut a heart using the Stitched Heart die by Heffy Doodle and some Pencil Eraser cardstock from Lawn Fawn. This is one of my favorite pink cardstocks of all time. And I love the weight of the Lawn Fawn cardstock! Finally I stamped a piece of Sage Leaf cardstock with a sentiment from the Cat-astrophe stamp set with VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

All that was left to do was put the card front together! I added foam tape to the back of the heart and tucked the cats around it, adding the sentiment last. Final touches included some white gel pen dots and accents on the cats and my card was finished! I had so much fun making this card and getting back into one of my favorite hobbies. I was definitely rusty, but I can’t wait to keep creating and sharing my cards with you all! Thank you so much for stopping by, and I’ll see you again soon with another card!

Programmed to Party!

Hi, all!  Today I am sharing this card I made for the new Heffy Doodle release! I love the new Bots of Love stamp set. It’s got so many fun images and some really sweet sentiments. Let’s jump right in!

Today I decided to make a birthday card using the set along with some other Heffy Doodle products. I started by die cutting two stitched rectangles from the Stitched Imperial Rectangle dies in different sizes, one from gray card stock and the other from some white card stock. On the smaller, white rectangle I used one of the gears to stamp out a pattern with some rainbow inks. I used all Catherine Pooler inks for this, going through the rainbow. Luckily it worked out perfectly and I got through all the colors!

I adhered the patterned rectangle to the gray one with some foam tape and started working on the rest of the elements for the card. I stamped out one of the robots from Bots of Love, a speech bubble and sentiment from Whatcha Sayin’, and heat embossed the ‘programmed to party’ sentiment from Bots of Love. I like to try to do all my stamping and die cutting at the same time in an attempt to streamline the process! I colored in the robot with my copics, giving him a party hat to wear, and die cut everything out, including the heat embossed sentiment which I used the Strips of Ease die for. I also die cut out a circle from the Stitched Circle dies for my robot. I ink blended the ground and a sky by using a post it note and some Distress Oxide ink.

I adhered the circle and heat embossed sentiment to the card, and decided I wanted to splatter some ink over the card. I used white, blue and gray paint to add some more color. Then I added the robot and word bubble, finishing the card! I hope you enjoyed this card for today! I don’t know about you, but I think those rainbow colors are just dreamy!! Thank you so much for stopping by today, and I’ll see you again soon with another card!

May Your Day Be Filled With Smiles

Good morning, crafty friends! Happy Monday. I hope you all had a great weekend, and are ready for a new week. I’ve got a lot planned for the blog with this week, but I’m starting off with a fun card for Penguin Palace! Today I’m wishing it was summer so I decided to create a cute mermaid card.

I started by ink blending some beautiful blue Catherine Pooler inks onto an A2 card panel concentrating the color at the bottom and letting it fade at the top. I also splattered the darker ink over the panel as well as some white paint. I’ve been loving splattering paint over my blended backgrounds lately! It adds such a fun unique detail. Plus, when I’m trying to make a background look like water it also makes it look like bubbles 🙂

Next I die cut some stitched circles in a few different sizes and ink blended the same blue inks on them leaving some white areas on them. I adhered them to the blended background and then I stamped out my little mermaid from the Take a Break stamp set and colored her in with my Copic markers and used the coordinating dies to cut her out.

This mermaid is one of my favorites from all the mermaid stamp sets that Penguin Palace carries. She’s so cute! Next I stamped a sentiment from the same Take a Break stamp set and heat embossed it on a piece of light gray cardstock. I trimmed that down and adhered it with some foam tape, as well as the mermaid.

I finished the card by adding some white die cut hearts and attaching the panel to a card base! I just love the way all of the extra die cut elements look like bubbles behind this adorable mermaid. I hope you enjoyed the card I created for today! What mermaid of Penguin Palace’s is your favorite? Thanks so much for joining me today 🙂 I’ll see you again soon with another card!

Valentine’s Day Series #2

Hello, everyone, and thanks for joining me today! It’s freezing where I live today, and I can’t seem to warm up. We’ve got the heat turned up and the blankets piled high! I hope you’re all staying warm today too 🙂 I’m back to share my second card in my mini Valentine’s Day series. img_2647I started today’s card by stamping the Gingham Backdrops pattern from Lawn Fawn with my Rockin’ Red ink from Catherine Pooler. I didn’t have to worry about lining the stamp up perfectly, because I knew I was going to be covering the middle-ish area with a strip of paper. Next I stamped out some of my fave pizza images from the Pizza My Heart stamp set with the Black Olive ink from Your Next Stamp. I used this ink because it’s my go to for Copic coloring as it doesn’t run or bleed.  Next I colored the images up with  some simple Copic combos and fussy cut them out.

I stamped the peppers on the pizza with Eucalyptus ink, also from Catherine Pooler. I kept the Eucalyptus ink out and stamped the speech bubble from Heffy Doodle’s Whatcha Sayin’ stamp set, stamping the sentiment in black in, and die cutting it out. Next, I trimmed down a piece of 110 lb cardstock, and used the straight stitched line in Heffy Doodle’s Slopey Joes die set to give the edges a stitched look. Then I put together a sentiment from the Pizza My Heart set, using the Eucalyptus ink to highlight the part of it that was in a different font with some simple masking.

img_2649 Once all those steps were complete I just needed to put the card together and add some finishing touches! I added some white gel pen accents and made the pizza cutter nice and glossy with a thick coat of Glossy Accents. The stripe with all of the elements, as well as the speech bubble, were popped up with foam tape. And that’s it for the second card in my Valentine’s series! I hope you enjoyed it. What is it about making cards with food on them that always leaves me hungry?? I hope I’m not the only one! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I’ll see you again soon with another card!
