MFT – A Friend Like You

Hi everyone! It’s been a while, hasn’t it?! I’m excited to be back sharing cards with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink for the next few months 🙂 Vanessa asked me if I could fill in, and of course I was thrilled to do so and dip my toes back in the card making universe after being absent for so long. Today I have a card to share with you using some of the awesome products found in her shop. Let’s take a look at the card.

I love the animal stamps that MFT has, and I couldn’t resist using these cats from the Cat-astrophe stamp set. I stamped out four of the cat images from the set using one of my fave brown inks from Catherine Pooler: Icing on the Cake. Then I used my copic markers to color them all in. Every now and then I love the softer lines of the brown ink instead of going with my standard black ink. Once they were colored I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Next I used some colored cardstock and kraft cardstock from Lawn Fawn to create the background and other stamped and die cut pieces. For the background I stamped the paw prints with the same Icing on the Cake ink onto an A2 sized piece of kraft cardstock. I also added some white dots with paint and a dotting tool. I die cut a heart using the Stitched Heart die by Heffy Doodle and some Pencil Eraser cardstock from Lawn Fawn. This is one of my favorite pink cardstocks of all time. And I love the weight of the Lawn Fawn cardstock! Finally I stamped a piece of Sage Leaf cardstock with a sentiment from the Cat-astrophe stamp set with VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

All that was left to do was put the card front together! I added foam tape to the back of the heart and tucked the cats around it, adding the sentiment last. Final touches included some white gel pen dots and accents on the cats and my card was finished! I had so much fun making this card and getting back into one of my favorite hobbies. I was definitely rusty, but I can’t wait to keep creating and sharing my cards with you all! Thank you so much for stopping by, and I’ll see you again soon with another card!

Your Next Stamp April Preveiw

Hi, everyone! I’m back today to share my card for the Your Next Stamp preview day. The new release is so cute and I think you’ll love it. Here’s my sneak peek for you!

IMG_3372.jpg

I used the new Wishing Well stamp set for this card along with the Cool Tag Four dies to create this highlighted colored portion of the card. I also used some of the new sparkly gumdrops from the April release. They’re so pretty!

I hope you liked the card for today. Want to see even more awesome sneak previews from the April release? Head over to the Your Next Stamp blog and see what the rest of the design team has created. Thanks for stopping by!

You Are Souper

Hi, everyone! Happy Monday. This week is going to be a busy week for me, so I decided to make an encouragement card for today’s Penguin Palace post. Anyone else needing a little encouragement to get through Monday? Let’s jump in!

IMG_3358

I started the card for today by die cutting two of the Cross Stitched and Dots Large and Small die sets. The larger one I die cut from some light gray card stock and the smaller from some white card stock. I love the detail that these dies add to a card. It’s so sweet.

IMG_3360

Next I did some creative masking to stamp out the “you are” sentiment from the Get Well Soon stamp set. I love searching other stamp sets to create my own sentiments. To finish the sentiment I die cut some of the Heffy Doodle alphabet dies to spell out “souper” from white card stock. I colored the letters in with my Copic markers for a fun pop of color.

IMG_3361

Finally, I stamped out the chef from the It’s Your Day and colored him in with my Copics. I used the coordinating dies to cut him out and popped him onto the card with foam tape. And that finished my card for today! I hope you enjoyed this creation, and that it brightened up your Monday a little 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by today. I’ll see you again soon with another card!

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge

Good morning, everyone! Happy Wednesday. I’m back today to share my final My Favorite Things project as a guest designer for their challenge blog! I’m so sad the month is over, but it’s been so much fun getting creative with their sketches.

This sketch was a fun one to end on, and I had the perfect idea for it. I was inspired by the freebie that comes with orders of $60 or more from MFT and the adorable new stamp set Purrfect Friends.

IMG_3323

I die cut the tree branch from white card stock and ink blended Stained Walnut Distress Oxide ink on it. I also splattered some of the Stained Walnut ink watered down over it. I also ink blended Broken China Distress Oxide Ink over an A2 size card panel. I splattered some watered down Faded Jeans Distress Oxide over the entire panel. I attached the branch to the card panel using some foam tape once they were both dry.

IMG_3325

Next I stamped out three of the birds from the Purrfect Friends and colored them in with my Copic markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and attached them to the branch with foam tape and some glue. I could resist stamping one of the cats so that it looked as though he was watching the birds from the ground.

IMG_3326

Finally, I stamped out one of the sentiments from the new Anything But Basic Encouragement stamp set with VersaMark ink and heat embossed white embossing powder. Then I ink blended some pink ink over it and trimmed it down. It was also attached to the card with some foam tape. And that was it for my card! I hope you like the projects I’ve made for my month as a special guest designer for MFT stamps! I’ve had fun sharing them with you 🙂 Be sure to head over to their challenge blog and see more great inspiration! Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you again with another card!

My Favorite Things Sketch

Hi, all! It’s time for another My Favorite Things sketch challenge! This week I went with more masking to create the look. Let’s jump right in. Here’s a look at the sketch!

thumbnail (1).jpg

And here’s the card I created inspired by it!

IMG_3279

I created some triangle masks using some post its and a craft knife. Then I started stamping my scenes. I stamped some pups and other images from the new Best In Show stamp set. I also filled in some spaces with images from the Lucky Dog stamp set. I used the negative mask of the triangle and stamped in some black, Copic friendly ink. Then I removed that mask and applied the positive mask. That’s when I would stamp in a gray ink. Using my Copic markers, I filled in the triangle area as well as colored the images. This took some time, but turned out really cool in the end!

IMG_3283

Once all my coloring was done I added some white dots to the triangle backgrounds and details to the images. I also splattered some watered down Pumice Stone Distress Oxide ink for some extra texture.

IMG_32812

I heat embossed the sentiment onto one of the Stitched Sentiment Strips dies, trimming off the end, and popping it up with some foam tape. I attached the card panel to a card base and that finished my card for today! I hope you enjoyed my take on the sketch. Be sure to see the rest of the inspiration on the MFT blog! Thanks so much for stopping by, and I’ll see you again soon with another card!

Create A Smile Challenge

Good morning! I’m popping in to share a card I made for the new Create a Smile challenge. This week’s theme is ‘monochrome.’ I always end up going with grays or black and white for these challenges for some reason, and this card is no different!

IMG_3288.jpg

This such a cute and simple card! You could definitely mass produce this design with different sentiments for all occasions. I stamped the elephants from Poppin’ Over along the bottom of the card and colored them in with my Copic markers. Then at the top I stamped the Friends from Friends Like You at the top. I added some white gel pen details and that was it! Be sure to head over to the Create a Smile blog and join us! Thanks so much for stopping by today. I’ll see you again soon with another card!

My Favorite Things Sketch!

Hi, everyone! I’m back with another My Favorite Things sketch challenge card to share with you. Today’s sketch is one that you could do a lot with. I had fun stacking animals on top of each other for it! Here’s a look at the sketch challenge:

thumbnail.jpg

And here’s what I came up with!

IMG_3226

I just had to use some of the products from the new March release for this card! They’re so dang cute. I started the card by using the cloud die from the Interactive Swing die set to ink blend some clouds in the background. I used Milled Lavender for this and splattered some white paint and Milled Lavender watered down over the panel. Once that was dried I heat embossed a sentiment from the Anything But Basic stamp set across the middle of the card. I love the sentiments in this set! They are so fun and sassy.

IMG_3233

Next I stamped out some of the images from the new Cute Critters stamp set. I colored them in with my Copic markers and die cut them out. I used foam tape to adhere them to the cloud panel I had created so complete the sketch. Easy and adorable!

IMG_3227

How cute are those critters?! I just love them. And I think someone will love getting this encouraging card. Be sure to head over to the MFT challenge blog and see all the awesome inspiration! Plus, if you haven’t yet, be sure to check out the new release! It’s so stinkin’ cute and full of springy products. Thanks so much for stopping by today! I’ll see you again soon with another card!

It’s Your Day!

Happy day three of previews for Penguin Palace’s new release! Today I’m sharing my card for the It’s Your Day stamp set. I used some of the adorable people images from this set to create a look as if the recipient is getting the celebrity treatment. My inspiration was the red carpet and I wanted this to look like a movie premier or some exciting party! IMG_29920.jpg

There are so many fun sentiments in this set, and the people are so cute & go with them perfectly. I loved creating the spot light for this card by doing some easy masking and the confetti was achieved with a panel die.

IMG_2999

There are so many fun projects you could make with this, and let’s face it-who wouldn’t want to be given celebrity treatment for the day!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Be sure to see all the previews on the Penguin Palace blog! I’ll see you again soon with another card!

Penguin Palace Preview Day 2!

Hi, everyone! I’m stopping by quick to share my card for day 2 of the previews for Penguin Palace’s new release. Sharon has all the cards on the Penguin Palace blog, and today we’re sharing our creations featuring the My Best Pal stamp set. This is such a cute stamp set with some cute dogs and lots of unique sentiments. Here’s the card I created.

IMG_2788

How cute is that pup with the balloons?? Another favorite from this set is the beautiful ‘happy birthday’ stamp which has a coordinating die to cut it out! Love that!

IMG_2790

I also think the other images in the set are perfect for scene building, and some could work on their own or with other stamp sets which is always a plus! Check out the Penguin Palace  blog for more great projects and keep watching for more previews! Thanks so much for joining me today, and I’ll see you soon with another card!

Penguin Palace Release Peek!

Hi, all! I’m popping in today to share a card I made for the new Penguin Palace release which will be coming March 20th! This release is so fun and I can’t wait to show you all the projects I’ve made for it. Today’s highlighted product is the stamp set “Let’s Get Crafty” and it’s a must have for the artists in your life! Here’s a look at my card.

IMG_2792

I just love all the cute images in this set, and the sentiments are so great for all the crafty people in your life. I created this card by doing some ink blending and lots of Copic coloring and die cutting. I loved creating this little painter’s scene.

IMG_2794

I was drawn to the “you inspire me” sentiment, and know several people I’d love to send this card to. Be sure to head over to the Penguin Palace blog and see what the rest of the design team created for this preview! The release is just around the corner and we have lots to share with you!
